Introduction to Fly Fishing
Ready to step into the world of fly fishing? Our Intro to Fly Fishing Class is the perfect place to start. Designed for beginners, this hands-on experience covers all the fundamentals to get you started.
- Rods & Reels – Learn about the gear and how to use it
- Essential Knots – Simple, reliable knots every angler should know
- Fly Selection & Intro to Entomology – Understand what fish eat and how to choose the right fly
- Basic Casting Techniques – Get comfortable with casting on the lawn
- Lets Go Fishing – Time on the water to practice what we’ve learned.

Class Format:
This four-hour session is split into two parts. The first 2 hours is indoors, focusing on gear, knots, and fly basics. Next, we’ll move outdoors to learn key casting techniques designed to help you feel confident in any situation on the water.
We’ll then outfit you with waders and boots and head to the river, where you’ll put your new skills into action. Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring warm socks and comfortable pants or shorts to wear under your waders.
Taught by seasoned industry professionals with decades of experience, this class is both educational and fun. You’ll learn everything from casting a fly rod to tying the right knots—and even pick up a few tips on navigating the sometimes puzzling language of the fly shop.

Fly Casting Lessons
Private Casting Lessons: An In Depth And Individualized Approach To Fly Casting

Join your casting instructor for an hour, focusing on techniques that will produce more fish and better fishing trips. Never held a fly rod before, GREAT! Looking to improve existing skills or going on that “trip of a lifetime”? Why not impress your fishing buddies and guides with a crisp casting stroke and some tight loops.
Instruction on these lessons will be tailored to the individual, but PLEASE don’t hesitate to request instruction on any technique or casting style. Both single and two handed(Spey) lessons available. $75 per student, one or two participants.

Fly Fishing Skill Classes
Improve specific techniques through focused two-hour classes designed for anglers who want to refine their skills and gain confidence on the water. Each session combines clear instruction with hands-on practice so you can immediately apply what you learn.
Class Topics Include:
- Nymphing Techniques – Learn how to fish subsurface flies effectively, build nymph rigs, detect subtle strikes, and achieve natural drifts in moving water.
- Dry Fly Presentation – Improve accuracy and delicate presentations while learning how to achieve drag-free drifts and approach rising trout.
- Streamer Fishing – Discover how to fish larger flies that imitate baitfish using effective casting angles, retrieves, and water-covering strategies.
- Saltwater Flats Fly Fishing – Prepare for saltwater trips with instruction on spotting fish, quick accurate casting, fly selection, and presenting flies to species like bonefish and permit.
- Casting Fundamentals & Accuracy – Refine casting mechanics, increase accuracy and distance, and correct common casting mistakes.
- Reading Trout Water – Learn how to identify productive water such as riffles, seams, and pools, and understand where trout are likely to feed and hold.
- Fly Selection & Aquatic Insects – Gain confidence choosing flies by learning the basics of aquatic insects, hatch activity, and how to match flies to conditions.
These classes are ideal for anglers of any experience level who want to improve a specific aspect of their fly fishing skills.
